Silver Creek Fire Update 9-12-18

Due to an increase in winds and a decrease in humidity, fire activity within the Silver Creek Fire increased today. A large plume from the northern end of the fire was visible and did jump the initial containment that had been created by the firefighters over this past month. Two plumes were seen in the southern area but are still within the containment of that sector.

What’s New: Fire behavior has increased significantly today on the N/NE portion of the fire, in and around Buffalo Park. Additional resources have been ordered, including multiple Single-Engine Air Tankers.

Smoke from the fire is highly visible from Kremmling, Steamboat Springs, and Highway 40.

Hunters (GMU 27) and campers near the northern area closure boundary are being asked to move.

The extent of fire growth is unknown at this time.
