Silver Creek Fire Update 10-1-18

0 Structures lost
0 Injuries
Fire size: 19,015 acres
Containment: 60%

Due to the increase in fire activity on the north end of the fire, Lake Agnes, Rabbit Ears Village and homes along Highway 40 (north of CR 182) are back in pre-evacuation.

High winds continued out of the southwest yesterday, sparking a spot fire just north of the Silver Creek Fire containment boundary, in an area of heavy beetle-killed timber. Aircraft were unable to fly due to wind. The spot quickly grew, running approximately one mile to the northeast. Crews have pre-positioned a dozer ahead of the front to begin constructing containment line west, to tie in with the 100 Road. Containment on the southern portion of the fire near Latigo Ranch and Old Park, held without notable smoke or heat.

There are currently 253 personnel, one Type 1, and one Type 3 helicopter assigned to the Silver Creek Fire. The fire is currently 19,015 acres and 60 percent contained.
Fire Weather: Weather conditions are expected to improve with relative humidity remaining above 20%. Breezy southwest winds with gusts up to 25 mph will remain in the afternoon with the possibility of isolated showers and thunderstorms.
